Hearing Voices in the Online Poker Room
We have a new poker room in the family, Titan Poker. They are part of the new and ambitious iPoker network with rather decent poker traffic; especially tournaments are much frequented.
When you enter Titan’s poker client, you meet a blue and wine-colored environment that could make you remember the eighties; if you were alive back then. The design is not exactly cutting edge; neither is it intrusive and you can easily endure long and profitable poker sessions without permanent marks.
What’s really, really nice though when you play at Titan Poker is the voice support. The players talk! Hearing your opponents announce their actions loud and clear actually adds a new dimension to the game. Since two senses are stimulated rather than just one, the poker experience at Titan Poker probably could be considered doubly sensual.
Each player is represented at the table by a character, and each character has its own way of talking. Voices are more or less placid or fresh, bold or husky. It’s really quite fun hearing the different characters talking in exactly the way you would expect them to. The cowboy, the cool black man, the cunning lady, the blonde bombshell, the stuck-up tuxedo, et al.
I like my own voice. I happened to get the cool black man as my character. He has poise at the table and adds to my strong table image with his distinct calls. I almost wish I could use him when playing live.
But you don’t have to accept a random character. Before you sit down at a table you can choose between ten different characters. However, you cannot turn the characters off, as in most online poker rooms. A minor inconvenience.
Another nice trait of the Titan Poker client is the hand history. It is completely graphical and each hand is displayed as a grid showing all players’ actions in the hand as well as their cards, if they were shown. The all-in button comes in very handy as it lets you perform instant all-ins. Sometimes timing is everything.
Assistance for multi-tabling maniacs
By the way, if you like to play many tables simultaneously, doesn’t this sound like a really nice application:
