When the Elimination Approaches

Friday, January 12th, 2007

Once you have gotten passed the pure newbie stage of elimination blackjack, you will notice a number of interesting situations that occur time and time again. One of them is when an elimination hand approaches, you’re the second shortest stack, the shortest stack moves all-in in desperation, loses and busts out - before the elimination hand even started. (more…)

Elimination Blackjack is the New Black

Friday, January 5th, 2007

There’s a new conversation piece you need to be updated on next time you go to a fancy dinner party. You may have heard the buzz in the street, or seen it happen in front of your eyes on CBS. A select group of people have even tried it out, and your faithful Spinner is one of those. Elimination Blackjack – it certainly has something to be said for it. (more…)

Online Slots – Winning is Nice Too

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

It’s fascinating how luck can be either completely absent or raining down in showers. When we talked about the attraction of online slots in earlier blogs, maybe we forgot to mention a small, tiny factor that adds to the pleasure of playing – winning. (more…)

Playing Baccarat without Mr. Bond

Friday, November 24th, 2006

The other day, we were involved in a game of online Baccarat. Baccarat is such a nice, classical card game. The banker may win a little more often than the player, but then again you are free to place your bet on the banker. (more…)

Free Poker TV on the Internet

Saturday, November 18th, 2006

A few years ago, poker on TV was rare and frankly not very amusing in the long run, given that the players’ hole cards were hidden. As much fun as watching paint dry, as the saying goes. Then the hole card cameras were introduced and everything changed.

Money Management in Online Gambling

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

All serious gamblers have some method for handling the natural swings in their bankroll. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, there’s nothing you can do about that; but by setting limits for your losses and wins during a gambling session you can insure yourself against some common pitfalls in online gambling. Online Blackjack. Online Slots. A Happy Marriage

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

Online blackjack and online slots go hand in hand like a happy old couple. To the extent happy old couples still exist, that is. Or any old couples at all, for that matter. With today’s divorce rates not many couples are bound to grow old together. Then again, a lot of old people form new couples with other old people. I guess that’s a new species of old couple. But many of them choose not to live together, and maybe they don’t go hand in hand either. It’s so old-fashioned.

How (not) to Play the Very First Hand

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

I sat down to play a tournament at the local casino. In the very first hand, I managed to lose half my stack with a marginal hand. I was in the big blind and it was folded around to the small blind who made a nominal raise. Probably more as a piece of psychological warfare than a display of actual strength – at least that’s what I thought. I looked down at K-2, no great hand, but I called and planned to steal the pot on a later street. (more…)

How Do You Play Online Blackjack?

Saturday, October 7th, 2006

Can I ask you something about blackjack? Last time I played a game of online blackjack, I managed to win around $50. I moved the money to a Pai Gow Poker table and although most of it was eventually gone, I had a long and plenty amusing time. (more…)

Hypocrisy in the World of Gambling

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

Just when I started to find playing online a lot of fun the US finds a way to make it harder for me to play, not in Vegas or in Reno but online?! If you are unsure of what the new Gambling Bill states, we will write more on the subject in both our news section and here in the blog. (more…)

Can there be Too Many Chips?! (Re: WSOP 2006)

Friday, September 29th, 2006

Poker players love chips, there can be no discussion about that. That’s why the WSOP main event is so popular. It simply contains more chips than any other poker competition. In the main event this summer there were more chips than ever before. With over 8,700 entrants, each starting out with 10,000 chips, there were more than 87 million chips in play, just imagine that. And they all assembled on the final table. And then they all migrated across the table to the great chip suburb outside of Jamie Gold. (more…)

Playing with the big boys

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

Spinner convinced me to write a few lines on my new hobby, playing online. He recommended me to start off with some online poker since he was afraid the other guys would make fun of me if I kept to my favorite casino game - roulette. (more…)

Online Blackjack – Recover Your Childhood

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

In online blackjack, the house has a small edge against you, but if you are playing towards a bonus you may turn the equation around and gain a certain edge against the house. Never mind that, with or without bonus online blackjack is a captivating game. Once you get into the habit of playing your basic strategy, standing, hitting or splitting depending on the situation, you find a nice and soothing flow of cards and chips, possibly together with a cultivated chat if you’re at a multiplayer table of online blackjack. (more…)

Ever dreamed of playing poker on national television? Having your game commented by experienced poker players who get to see all players’ hole cards? Seeing your creative plays displayed in open, admired by commentators and fellow players alike? I did it last week and you can actually do it today. If today is a Friday, that is. (more…)

Cold Cards Hot Dice – Poker Player’s Vice

Friday, September 8th, 2006

“I had cold cards”. Isn’t that the lamest excuse you can hear from poker players busting out of a tournament? Well, sometimes it may actually be the truth. Yesterday the weekly Wednesday tournament was played at the local casino. Since today is Thursday that shouldn’t surprise anyone. Tomorrow it’s Friday but that’s another story. (more…)

Casino Security Authority on Players’ Side (?)

Friday, September 1st, 2006

In the current online gambling frenzy, site security generally causes no problems. We deposit cash, play the games and withdraw whatever cash is left without much thought of any problems that might appear in the process. Nevertheless, problems surely are not an unthinkable phenomenon in connection with money transfers over the Internet to people you do not know. (more…)

The Shortest Poker Chat Ever

Friday, August 4th, 2006

It is nice to sit down and play some poker. Most of the time, the chat is pretty silent. People focus on the game (I guess they have seen Phil Ivey on TV), and I’m sure the majority play multiple tables simultaneously, so there isn’t that much to time for conversation. (more…)

Another Shot at the Millionaires Club Jackpot

Friday, July 28th, 2006

I notice that the gigantesque jackpot at InterCasino is still up for the taking. At the time of writing the jackpot display reads $3,699,441. This would certainly pay more than just a few parking tickets, even I must admit that. (more…)
