Free Poker TV on the Internet

Saturday, November 18th, 2006

A few years ago, poker on TV was rare and frankly not very amusing in the long run, given that the players’ hole cards were hidden. As much fun as watching paint dry, as the saying goes. Then the hole card cameras were introduced and everything changed.

How (not) to Play the Very First Hand

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

I sat down to play a tournament at the local casino. In the very first hand, I managed to lose half my stack with a marginal hand. I was in the big blind and it was folded around to the small blind who made a nominal raise. Probably more as a piece of psychological warfare than a display of actual strength – at least that’s what I thought. I looked down at K-2, no great hand, but I called and planned to steal the pot on a later street. (more…)

How Do You Play Online Blackjack?

Saturday, October 7th, 2006

Can I ask you something about blackjack? Last time I played a game of online blackjack, I managed to win around $50. I moved the money to a Pai Gow Poker table and although most of it was eventually gone, I had a long and plenty amusing time. (more…)

Hypocrisy in the World of Gambling

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

Just when I started to find playing online a lot of fun the US finds a way to make it harder for me to play, not in Vegas or in Reno but online?! If you are unsure of what the new Gambling Bill states, we will write more on the subject in both our news section and here in the blog. (more…)

Can there be Too Many Chips?! (Re: WSOP 2006)

Friday, September 29th, 2006

Poker players love chips, there can be no discussion about that. That’s why the WSOP main event is so popular. It simply contains more chips than any other poker competition. In the main event this summer there were more chips than ever before. With over 8,700 entrants, each starting out with 10,000 chips, there were more than 87 million chips in play, just imagine that. And they all assembled on the final table. And then they all migrated across the table to the great chip suburb outside of Jamie Gold. (more…)

Playing with the big boys

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

Spinner convinced me to write a few lines on my new hobby, playing online. He recommended me to start off with some online poker since he was afraid the other guys would make fun of me if I kept to my favorite casino game - roulette. (more…)

Play Poker on TV – You Can Do it Today

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Ever dreamed of playing poker on national television? Having your game commented by experienced poker players who get to see all players’ hole cards? Seeing your creative plays displayed in open, admired by commentators and fellow players alike? I did it last week and you can actually do it today. If today is a Friday, that is. (more…)

Cold Cards Hot Dice – Poker Player’s Vice

Friday, September 8th, 2006

“I had cold cards”. Isn’t that the lamest excuse you can hear from poker players busting out of a tournament? Well, sometimes it may actually be the truth. Yesterday the weekly Wednesday tournament was played at the local casino. Since today is Thursday that shouldn’t surprise anyone. Tomorrow it’s Friday but that’s another story. (more…)

My friends, this is so great, I wish you were here with me. I’m sitting here in front of my computer watching the live broadcast of the 2006 WSOP championship event final table. How amazing is that! Kudos to Espn.com who streams the final table broadcast over the Internet for anyone to tap. (more…)

The Shortest Poker Chat Ever

Friday, August 4th, 2006

It is nice to sit down and play some poker. Most of the time, the chat is pretty silent. People focus on the game (I guess they have seen Phil Ivey on TV), and I’m sure the majority play multiple tables simultaneously, so there isn’t that much to time for conversation. (more…)

He who laughs first, laughs last

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

Occasionally I play poker against my fellow work colleagues. Usually we play Texas Holdem but last week someone came up with the idea that we should try Omaha instead. Since many co-workers didn’t know how to play Omaha, there where a lot of murmuring like: “why”, “I don’t wanna”, “bah” “humbug”, and “nuts” going on. Finally we ended up with only three players.

Wild Swings for a Lone Gambler

Friday, June 30th, 2006

Casino tournaments have always exercised a special attraction on me. You’re no longer alone against the “edgy” house. You get to compete against your fellow citizen for a while. Nice change for a lone gambler.

If You Can’t Be a Star, Bust One

Friday, June 16th, 2006

Hollywood is the place where celebrities work, and Hollywood Poker is the place where they spend their spare time. At least some of them, such as Jon Favreau, Tom McGowan, Dennis Quaid, and Mimi Rogers. James Woods and Vince Van Patten are regulars and both keep poker blogs at the site.
